According to Charlotte's Free Press, a spokesperson for Reverend Sun Myung Moon, right-wing leader of the Unification Church (the Moonies), claims that their church has no official stand on homosexuality. Susan Reinhold, national media director for the religious cult, however, said, "We believe very strongly in the family and procreation. The church is definitely against premarital sex I don't think Reverend Moon could bless a marriage between two people of the same sex. God meant for us to procreate, he said to be fruitful."

The Chicago Gay Life reports that during the filming of Trick or Treat in which Bianca Jagger has a love affair with another woman, the producers decided to substitute a stand-in for Bianca during the nude scene. The action came after the producers viewed a scene in which Bianca's derriere was exposed....

Here's more on Woody Allen's continuing and at times contradictory comments bisexuality. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Allen was asked if he felt the rise of bisexuality is a product of confusion or liberation. Said Allen: "My instincts are i could be wrong that it's a negative thing. But I'm much too ignorant on the subject to be confident of that ....Now I do feel that bisexuality or homosexuality, like grass, should be an absolutely effortless thing of total free choice. But I see it as symptomatic of negative, unhealthy forces... But I have an open mind about it."... But... But

GCN tells us that a performance of John Updike's play, Buchanan Dying and a party held afterward at Wheatland, Buchanan's historic home, were zapped by members of Gay United Lancaster in Pennsylvania. Buchanan was this nation's only bachelor President, and he has often been reputed to be gay. Hoping draw attention widespread silence on the role of homosexuals in our history, the group wore huge buttons reading, "Was Buchanan Really Gay?"....

Incest O.K.? Playboy reports a Tulsa Oklahoman father of sixteen children won probation of a two year sentence after pleading guilty to committing incest with two of his teenage daughters. The action was partly due to his "hard work" and generally responsible behavior. The judge remarked the incest was "a family affair and not one of great community concern in the I protection of the public from danger.".....

The Barb reports that the San Francisco Health Department issued a warning that a number of gay men are picking up deadly typhoid fever from oralanal sexual contact. The department says that the practice of "rimming" can lead to typhoid as well as hepatitis and bowel diseases such as amoebic dysentery, salmonella and shegalla......

The United Federation of Teachers, a powerful teacher's union in New York City, recently passed a resolution which clearly states its support of civil rights for all its members including homosexuals.....

Although it was the Carter Organization which blocked any gay rights statement in the Democratic Party platform, the National Gay Task Force reports that Carter himself had urged his organizers to have it included. Gay rights, along with statements the decriminalization of marijuana and the right to abortion were abandoned in the interest of "unifying the party." A floor fight on gay rights may still emerge at the Convention in New York, where an effort for an equal representation of women in the party is almost certain.....

The National Center for Health Statistics reports that married folks usually are healthier than the formerly married, but the healthiest of all are those who never wed. This is the first statistical government study on the relationship of marriage to illness. The report covers persons aged seventeen and older and includes information on both mental and physical stability......

How's Your Love Life?.....In a recent poll of 1,000 30 year-olds, 86% were satisfied with their health, 82% with their love life, 79% with their job, and 54.2% with their intellectual development. The poll was administered by the National Institute of Education.....Do you wonder if things are really all that rosy?......

Feminists won the battle to remove a billboard along Los Angeles' Sunset Strip which advertised The Rolling Stones' newest album, depicting a woman bound with ropes and covered with bruises, saying, "I'm black and blue from the Rolling Stones and I love it!" The feminists who call themselves Women Against Violence Against Women are still demanding a personal apology from the British rock group....Now if only Clevelanders would do something about that Haberacker Optician's ad on Chester Avenue....

· The National Lesbian/Feminist Conference planned for July 25 at the University of Indiana in Bloomington was postponed indefinitely. Apparently, the women organizing the event were told by the University Conference Bureau that they had to have a university sponsoring group. When they did get one, the Women's Studies Dept., the organizers were then told there was no space available. Legal action is being planned. In the meantime, another site will be selected in the fall. Guy Hunt, 32, of Issaquah, Washington claims he was fired a Northwest Airlines pilot because he is gay. He has filed a discrimination suit to get his job back. The "official" reason Hunt was

terminated was

because he allegedly refused to take a physical regarding his use of a prescribed painkiller

banned by the Federal Aviationn Agency. This however, Hunti charges, is a pretext. Since hisi discharge, Hunt has formed thee Gay Airline Pilots Association, which has seven members, all' with Northwest. At a news s conference Hunt said, "The image pilots try to portray is that of a suave, male stud. They assume that gay pilots are a, liability to that image.' Meanwhile, Northwest denies there is any policy against hiring homosexuals...

London's Gay News reports that while in Southampton, England, former Air Force T. Sergeant Leonard Matlovich received a largely negative reaction as guest speaker at CHE's, Britain's largest gay organization. First, gay pacifists tried to put through a resolution dis-inviting the U.S. Serviceperson only one

before he was to speak. After the defeat of the resolution, Matlovich did give a presentation; but was received in "stony silence"....

Former Federal Judge G. Harrold Carswell, who once was nominated by Richard Nixon to the Supreme Court but was rejected for racist slurs, is in a Florida hospital recovering from "nervous exhaustion and depression." Carswell, 56, has been charged by a grand jury with "battery" and "attempting commit an unnatural and lascivious act." According to State Attorney Harry Morrison, Carswell struck up a conversation with another man in a Tallahassee shopping center rest room that was under police observation as a homosexual meeting place. The pair, said Morrison, drove off in Carswell's car and parked in a wooded area where Carswell "actually and intentionally" touched his companion, a police undercover agent who responded by making an arrest.
